Enjoy your stay at Kookooli Guest House, your peaceful retreat in the heart of Mount Pelion. Whether you’re here for relaxation, hiking, or cultural exploration, we’re here to make every moment unforgettable.
Cradled in the green embrace of Mount Pelion, Kookooli is more than a guest house—it’s a gentle retreat for the soul. With rooms like soft cocoons, it offers a place to rest, dream, and reconnect with nature. Here, time slows, tradition whispers, and every sunrise feels like a personal welcome.
Some are looking for…”Metamorphosis”, others are content with chilling and “cocooning”. In Kookooli (aka cocoon), you will be waking up gazing the Aegean Sea with the mountain at your feet! The breeze and calm will grant you a most needed break from everyday life.
The idea behind the concept:
Kookooli (read as kukúli) means cocoon in Greek. The inspiration comes from the neighbourhood’s name “Metamorphosis” and is credited to Philip Kavvadias (do check out his books). Metamorphosis means transformation and is referencing the church dedicated to the Transmutation of Christ. Playing with this concept we also managed to combine the history of Zagora.
During the byzantine years in order to avoid pirate attacks, people living closer to the sea relocated around the church. Around the 16th and 17th centuries the village became rich from sericulture, the practice of raising silkworms to produce silk from the cocoons.
From the harbour of Chorefto, the famous Zagorian ships traded high quality silk in all the major European trading hubs. You can visit the famous library, founded in the 18th century, to find out more.
This combination of knowledge, wordplay and the feeling of comfort and protection of “cocooning” marks the starting point of our vibe and values. Transform with us!
Our idea of accommodation:
We value comfort highly and find it in the vibes of warm spaces and open people. We find peace in simplicity and hope you do as well. A smile and a friendly attitude can always make you feel at home and that’s what we aspire to. We like to share our weirdness and welcome yours.
Breaking the mould of “traditional stays”, the plan is to become a “concept spot” in the village. Embracing our history, appreciating our nature and all it can offer, we are waiting for you to inspire us with your unique perspective.
